PURE EVIL GALLERY presents ZEZAO,HIGHRAFF,MILO TCHAIS
SEPTEMBER 5TH
108 LEONARD STREET 6PM
ZezAo, Sao Paulo, Brazil
ZezAos work was born directly from the streets of Sao Paulo.
He is known for riding his bike around the city and painting the darkest most
hidden parts of the city, mostly underground. His street styles are infused in
his fine art work, photos, psychEdelic painting and calligraphy. He has
recently released one big documentary film about his work. ZezAo has participated in
several group exhibitions, including THE Jonathan Levine Gallery/NY,
ocontemporary /Brighton, UK group shows and two solo shows at Choque Cultural
Gallery in 2007 and 2005.

ZezAo, 35, is one of the exponents of the new brazilian
abstract graffiti. His trademarks are what he calls 'flopS',
elaborate arabesques that are visually far from the pixaCAo letters
that they first came from. His most striking work nowadays have been the one he
does in São Paulo sewerage system and subterranean water ducts, where all the
wastes of the big city are washed away among Zezão¹s works
of art.

Rafael
Calazans Pierri a.k.a Highraff was born and raised in São Paulo, Brasil, a huge
city in a big country with multicultural influences...²I hit the streets since
1997 writing NOIS since 1999 with
two other writers and friends. Natural shapes and patterns, the spirituality of
mother earth, ethnical art ancestral cultures, love for life, nature and art
are some of my motivations. I seach direct influences from the forms of Nature
(like sun, moon, stars, plants, animals, cells, atoms, planets, etc...) and in
the non material plans among us... the nature on its fractal and psychedelic
perfection... the cicles... of shadow and light... day and night, hot and
cold... dualities... polarities and everything between it...²

MILO TCHAIS, Sao Paulo,
Brazil, LONDON .ENGLAND
Camilo Oliveira. AKA TCHAIS Reflects reality as a profile, placing shapes,
colour and compositions to reflect the imagination. As he explains: ³MY WORK
explores relationships between our senses and our creativity. One that I hope
will make viewers question their own level of interpretation.²
TCHAIS is a self-taught artist who began experimenting in lettering, figures and compositions with graffiti in 1997, actively painting and living in Sao Paulo until 2001 when he relocated to London. Most recently, HE created a project called ŒLife Buds:¹ ³It was about conveying a positive, harmonic and lively message to the world, through the use of organic shapes and natural, life-representing elements.²
It is this more abstract approach that can be seen in IN
HIS NEW WORK which concentrates on the exploration of real life against shapes,
colours and textures.
Other exhibitions and projects by Camilo Oliveira
include:
Group canvases exhibited for "Brasil Graffiti"
book launch at ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts), London 2005
"100 Latas" group exhibition at Graffiteria,
